Used by railway personnel to hand information/orders to the crews of passing locomotives, saving time and keeping on schedule by eliminating the need for the locomotive to even slow down(!!) This item is marked as made by "Hi Speed Dely ("delivery") Fork Co., Shelbyville, Ind.", along with a U.S. patent number, sometime between 1936-1964. Wood handle, bamboo and wood forks. Metal handle/fork attachment, spring clips and string all intact, bamboo fork has a 3" split near the metal attachment piece. Measures 16" wide fork to fork, 65" long.
