Ten circulated 90% fine silver Kennedy half dollars. Following the assassination of President John Fitzgerald Kennedy in November 1963, half dollars bearing the likeness of Kennedy were made. 1964 was the only year Kennedy half dollars composed of 90% silver were stuck.
The first Kennedy half dollars intended for circulation were struck at the Denver Mint on January 30, 1964, followed by the Philadelphia Mint the next week. A ceremonial first strike was held at both Philadelphia and Denver on February 11, 1964.
