Three Antiquarian Children's books. "Song Stories For The Kindergarten" by Mildred J. and Patty S. Hill, Clayton F. Summy Co., 1896. "Puss In-Boots" (with "Pop-Up" Pictures) Blue Ribbon Press, New York, 1934. "Squeaks and Squawks From Faraway Forests", Saalfield Publishing Company, 1906. The "Song Stories..." songbook is especially notable (and rare!) for the first-ever published appearance of the "Happy Birthday" song, BEFORE it was titled as such--here, as "Good Morning To All". The Puss In-Boots book appears to have all "pop-ups" intact in good condition. Wonderful illustrations, still retains good color. "Squeaks and Squawks..." has major wear and loose binding; pages intact and in good overall condition. Striking illustrations in b&w and color by Charles Livingston Bull. Overall these items are in FAIR condition (excepting "Squeaks..."---Poor) considering age. Loose binding, stains, fraying, writing, small tears, browning, storage wear all evident, but considering rarity still amazing finds. See photos for more detail. Note: This item is on the main floor of the house. From street level the main floor is accessible through a small series of cement steps and then about ten wooden steps to the deck.
