CA-2. Ankara Republic of Turkey / Navy Arms Co. / Turkish Mauser M38 / Model 1938, 8mm rifle.

The 1938 Ankara arsenal stamp (TC AS FA ANKARA 1938), indicates the rifle went through the Turkish arsenal during the period of time Turkey was standardizing and modernizing firearms inventory. Some components of the rifle are likely older than the arsenal refurbishment date.

The serial number is 1978 as seen on receiver, bolt, and bottom metal floorplate. The rear sight slide mechanism is marked with a different serial number, possibly due to refurbishment.
