Two hard-to-find periodicals with features on Marilyn Monroe. Avant Garde magazine #2, March, 1968 and Eros magazine, Autumn 1962 editions. Avant Garde feature is "The Marilyn Monroe Trip: A Portfolio of Serigraphic Prints by Bert Stern". These were originally taken in June, 1962 for Vogue magazine by Stern, now known famously as "The Last Sitting", as Monroe died six weeks later. Stern decided to experiment with new techniques for this layout, and over 6 double-sided 10.5" x 11.25" pages he used wildly vibrant Day-glo ink colors to produce truly eye-popping results for these serigraphic prints.
The Eros hardcover magazine from 1962 also features Stern's "Last Sitting" photos, in their original B&W and color versions over 20 pages on quality paper stock, including front and back inside cover two-page spreads. The rest of the magazine is given to era articles on sex, poems, art, a feature on French erotic postcards, and fiction. Avant Garde magazine is in very good vintage condition, with light age wear/yellowing and small corner crease on front cover. Eros has some damage to spine bottom and edge-fraying, overall wear. Binding is good for both items, with no apparent writing/tears/mold issues.
