This group of bronze medals depicts the first spouses of most of US presidents in the 19th and 20th centuries. First spouse medals are inscribed with the name, the order, and years of their term as first spouse. When a president served without a first spouse, the obverse designs are emblematic of Liberty as depicted on a circulating coin of that era. A few of the First Ladies are missing in the latter years.
