Empire Revival mahogany veneer chest of drawers featuring striking bookmatched figured mahogany veneer on the drawer fronts and vertically grained mahogany veneer on the sides. The chest includes two small serpentine upper drawers over four graduated full-width drawers, fitted with brass bail pulls and decorative round pulls on the upper drawers. Raised on carved lion's paw feet, this piece reflects the classic lines and craftsmanship of late 19th-century Empire Revival furniture.
The drawers feature hand-cut dovetail joinery, and the cabinet retains its rich mahogany finish with attractive grain throughout. A handsome antique chest suitable for bedroom, hallway, or traditional décor. Wear, finish loss, and age-related imperfections are present consistent with age and use. Some drawers do not slide in and out with ease, and one drawer has the joinery coming apart (needs to be reglued and clamped to dry). There is a spot of missing veneer on the corner of one of the drawer fronts, and a split in the wood on one of the drawer bottoms. Keys are not included. Please inspect photos for overall condition, 34"x22"x49.5". *This item is on the 2nd floor of the house and will need to be taken down the stairs.
